  • No, along with SRE, donations to Youthworks College, the School Camp Building Fund and the community assistance fund (for campers who need financial assistance) are all tax-deductible.

  • Youthworks’ camping, conference and publishing ministries operate for purpose; we endeavour to cover costs and any profit made from sales is reinvested into ministry and operations. We rely on donation and grant income for those ministry services we offer at no or below cost.

  • Yes, Youthworks gratefully receives triennial funding from the Sydney Anglican Synod to support our work. Other grants from Trusts, Foundations or government agencies from time-to-time help defray the full cost of our work, keeping ministries such as camps and training affordable for churches and families.

  • Donations to SRE help strengthen and grow Christian faith education in schools across NSW.

Your gifts make it possible for a team of 10 dedicated SRE Advisors to provide essential training for primary and high school SRE teachers, equipping them to lead effective and engaging classes.

In addition to training, the Advisors support churches in navigating  challenges in negotiations with local school administrators—such as securing timeslots and managing enrolments—and regularly advocate with policymakers to protect and enhance SRE arrangements.

  • Youthworks runs Christian outdoor education camps for schools where the gospel message is shared with over 12,000 students across the year, as well as camps like Square One, where a mix of primary school aged children from both Christian and non-Christian families have fun together learning about Jesus.

  • While Youthworks asks SRE teachers (or their churches) to contribute toward the cost of training, the actual cost is significantly subsidised in recognition of their voluntary service. This helps keep training affordable and accessible to more people, while still providing quality resources.

Workbooks and curriculum materials are sold separately at a price that simply covers the cost of producing and distributing them to cover costs. Any small surplus is reinvested into maintaining and improving these resources for the benefit of SRE teachers and students.

  • Youthworks SRE Advisors regularly help SRE Coordinators when they meet with school management to resolve issues such as timetabling or enrolments. While there is growing demand for SRE from families, pockets of opposition from anti-faith activists and resistance in some schools create difficulties for the delivery of SRE.  The support and intervention of SRE Advisors is crucial to ensure that young people can access faith education in every school and explore their big questions from the Bible.

Alongside other faith providers, Youthworks has a leading role in liaising with the NSW state government to ensure that SRE procedures are implemented consistently and appropriately and that parents have the freedom to choose SRE for their children.

This combination of expertise, best-practice training and behind-the-scenes advocacy is essential to ensuring SRE remains a valued part of holistic education in NSW public schools.
