Discovering Jesus together: your impact in the SRE classroom

“Sometimes teaching SRE feels like mining in a dark mine … but then you get some awesome diamonds.”

Those are the reflections of Jaedon Scott, a Special Religious Education (SRE) teacher at Oak Flats High School.

Every Friday morning, your support creates a space where Year 9 and 10 students – many of whom have never opened a Bible – come together to discover the truth about Jesus. Rooms fill up so quickly that sometimes there aren't even enough chairs. Still, thanks to your generosity, there’s always room for another curious heart. This year, your support is helping these students see how the whole Bible fits together, pointing them to Jesus – not just as a distant figure, but as the heartbeat of every story from Genesis to Revelation. For many students, that’s something entirely new.

Because you care, young people are asking deep, honest questions about faith:

  • "What does Jesus do with my sin?"

  • "Did Jesus actually experience sin?"

  • "How do you actually get Jesus’ forgiveness?"

With your help, Jaedon’s SRE class has become a safe place where students can ask their questions about faith and grow deeper in their understanding of God.

As Jaedon puts it …

“There are some kids who come along, and you can tell they’re thinking, ‘I actually need to sort this question out about who Jesus is.’”

But your impact doesn’t stop in the classroom, as SRE is a doorway to the local church. Students from Jaedon's class have even visited the youth group Jaedon runs at Park Rail Anglican Church – some coming back during tough times, seeking hope and community.

When you invest in SRE, you’re planting seeds of faith that connect students to Jesus and to the church.

You’re giving them a foundation that lasts – for life. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of young people in your community!
