Anglican Youthworks is seeking a People and Safety Coordinator to join the Operations Team. Youthworks’ Operations Team’s purpose is to manage and optimise the details to keep Youthworks’ everyday functions on track. The Operations team focuses on maintaining efficiency of process, minimise risk, deliver on expectations, and helps teams make smart decisions.

About the role

The People and Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting the People and Safety Manager with the operational functions (human resource management, work health and safety responsibilities, and administration) that lead to Youthworks having and sustaining an overall compliance with laws and other relevant legal regulations.  This position provides HR & IR advice, improves business practices, leads projects and ensures compliance with relevant regulations and policies. 

Your responsibilities

  • Assist with the hands-on delivery of HR management, compliance, and administration, if required and appropriate, to cover operational requirements (this may include travel to relevant Youthworks workplaces)

  • Maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge, and application of HR & WHS principles within the organisation to provide timely, accurate and compliant advice as required

  • Development and maintaining of a range of HR documentation including letters o appointment, contract variations, templates, forms, organisation charts, reports and other documentation ensuring records are kept across all HR functions

  • Developing, maintaining, and enhancing human resources and health and safety policies, procedures, and practices to support employees in achieving their day-to-day goals

  • Coordinate management of notified workplace injuries, Workers Compensation claims and Return to Work programs

  • Coordinate verification requests for Working with Children Check numbers and ensure records are updated accordingly

You will need to demonstrate

  • Qualifications and/or experience in administration / compliance / work health and safety or human resources management

  • Strong experience working across lines of service to deliver consistent outcomes 

  • Experience managing multiple and competing stakeholder interests, as well as sensitive material 

  • Experienced delivery of advice, insights, and recommendations 

  • Experience in review, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of management systems and operational processes

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with a focus on providing strong customer service to internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to grasp large amounts of information and be able to quickly learn and adapt  

  • Commitment to personal and professional learning and development

  • Personal Christian faith and willingness to work within an Anglican organisation 

  • Willingness to attain and maintain church-based safe ministry / safe church training programs

  • Commitment to work with Youthworks’ mission 

Desirable

  • Experience in a non-for-profit setting 

  • Experience in a similar role 

  • Mental Health first aider certification 

  • First Aider certification

  • Return to Work qualifications and experience
