Opening doors to faith for children, teachers and families!
Your generosity is not only making it possible for children to learn about their own faith through Special Religious Education (SRE) — but is also opening doors for teachers and families to engage with life’s big questions from the Bible.
In Quakers Hill, Dan Jaques coordinates SRE across eight schools, including one of the largest in NSW. Thanks to supporters like you, more students — and their classroom teachers - are hearing the stories of Jesus each week and discovering what it means to trust him.
At one primary school, SRE has led to an unexpected friendship with a supervising classroom teacher. Dan shares,
“She tells us some of the struggles and joys of teaching… it’s developed into a really awesome partnership.”
One day, while a Colin Buchanan song the children love was playing, the teacher laughed and told Dan, “I find myself singing this in the car every day.”
Soon, their conversations extended to the Bible stories from class. As Dan recalls,
“She said, ‘I’ve heard this story before… but now it’s starting to make sense.’”
The impact goes beyond the classroom. Parents have told Dan that their children come home talking about SRE and that it’s their favourite class. Teachers value the way SRE nurtures respect and curiosity, while children are given space to explore faith and think deeply about God’s love. As Dan says,
“God’s doing some great things in that school… this K–2 class is just thriving now.”
Thank you for ensuring more children have the chance to learn about their faith and grow in their understanding of Jesus’ life and teaching. You’re helping create moments that can stay with them — and bless their teachers and families — for a lifetime.
