Nicolas

Your support plays an important role in helping ministry leaders be equipped in sharing the Gospel effectively to young people —even in Singapore.

Nicolas Wong, children’s minister at Bethany Trinity Presbyterian Church in Singapore, has experienced strong guidance from Youthworks Supervisor, Tim Beilharz, providing training to Nicolas and his team to identify areas of growth in their children’s ministry and providing practical steps to engage children with their church community. Nicolas says:

“Tim ran trainings for the Children’s Ministry Foundations workshop. I really appreciate how he showed us from the Bible what children’s ministry should look like. And he helped us together as a team to think about how we should focus on the head, the heart, the hands, and how we can involve children with the church community and gave us some practical ideas for that.”

Thanks to the generosity of Youthworks supporters, not only are ministry leaders being supported in Australia, but leaders are being equipped in Singapore too, to disciple young people.

Since being trained by Youthworks, Nicolas and his team have been intentional in how they involve the children to be part of their church community and have seen children take initiative in their faith. Nicolas says:

“…These trainings have benefited children indirectly …One of our church members, she was unwell. As the children’s ministry we asked the children to write cards to encourage this church member. I was very, very encouraged that the children were willing to do that, some colored pictures, and some folded paper flowers. A lot of children wrote cards and had Bible verses to remind this church member to keep trusting in God. I think it's really amazing that God can use children to encourage adults. This reminds us that the children and the adults, all of us, are one body...”

Evangelism is one of the areas that Nicolas and his team believe would be an opportunity to grow in as they work around restrictions from the pandemic. Nicolas says:

“Another opportunity for us is evangelism. God is building His church, but COVID has made us focus on the inside, on getting through the next day or next week. For us in Singapore, a lot of us are made to work from home during this period. So, our opportunities for evangelism are very, very limited, but children can still meet other children, and still meet each other in class and during break times, so there's still an opportunity for them to tell their friends about Jesus. That’s one thing that we think about, how we can better equip our children to be used by God and the Gospel.”

Thank you for your investment, which is helping ministry leaders disciple children both here in Sydney, but also as far away as Singapore. Your support is helping to grow young people’s desire to know and love Christ, and equipping them to share the hope they have with others.
