About the role
We are seeking a seasoned, faith-filled leader to join our Executive Leadership Team as Head of Donor & Community Relations, reporting directly to the CEO. This role provides strategic leadership across fundraising, supporter engagement, and organisational communications. You will lead a talented team of fundraising and communications professionals, grow and steward Youthworks’ community of supporters, and shape integrated engagement strategies that advance our global mission and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for Youthworks’ donor engagement, fundraising, and communications functions
Lead, mentor, and develop a hybrid team of fundraising and communications professionals
Grow and steward Youthworks’ supporter and donor base, including major and mid-level donors
Achieve annual income and expense targets for stakeholder engagement
Develop and deliver integrated fundraising and communication strategies across print, digital, email, social, and media channels
Partner closely with the CEO on major gift cultivation and solicitation
Build and maintain strong relationships with supporters, clergy, Council, senior leaders, and external partners
Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, governance, and data protection requirements
Provide high-quality reporting, insights, and analysis to inform organisational decision-making
About You
You are a strategic, relational, and values-driven leader with significant experience in fundraising and communications within the not-for-profit sector. You bring both professional excellence and a mature Christian faith to your work.
Essential experience and attributes include:
5+ years’ experience in senior fundraising roles within a not-for-profit organisation
Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in a hybrid environment
Proven success in planning and delivering multi-channel fundraising campaigns
Strong written and verbal communication skills across a wide range of audiences
A creative and strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High emotional intelligence, integrity, and resilience
Strong financial and general management capability
A strong, mature Christian faith demonstrated in personal and professional life
Alignment with the reformed evangelical theology of the Sydney Anglican Diocese
Active involvement in a local church and Christian ministry
Commitment to Youthworks’ mission, values, and ethos as a Christian employer
Desirable:
Relevant undergraduate qualification and/or further professional training
Experience working closely with CEOs or senior executives
Strong data and CRM capability (Salesforce experience highly regarded)
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
