Youthworks is seeking a Maintenance Assistant (part-time) to join our team at Port Hacking, situated in the beautiful Royal National Park, just outside Sutherland. This part time role will be contributing to our guests’ satisfaction and enhance Youthworks’ reputation, whilst undertaking maintenance responsibilities to ensure quality service from start to finish.

Youthworks Outdoors provide a place of temporary community for groups for relational and personal growth. We are intentional partners to schools, churches and like-minded community groups through networking, collaboration, and facilitation of Word ministry. We are providers of outstanding venues in amazing locations and Christian hospitality. We believe our interactions with our guests and each other are opportunities to promote and proclaim the gospel.

Your responsibilities

‍ ‍Maintenance Assistance

  • Assist maintenance team members with day-to-day repair, upkeep, and maintenance tasks across Youthworks Port Hacking and accommodation facilities

  • Provide high quality support to ensure grounds, cabins, rooms, amenities, and common areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and functional condition

  • Conduct yourself professionally and positively while interacting with guests, staff, contractors, and volunteers

  • Assist with responding to maintenance requests and reported repairs in a timely manner

  • Assist with manual handling tasks including moving furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials safely

  • Ensure all tools and equipment used are handled safely, checked regularly, and any faults or hazards are reported to management immediately

  • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment at all times in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements

    Grounds and Site Upkeep

  • Assist with the daily upkeep and general presentation of site grounds

  • Undertake general outdoor maintenance tasks including weeding, blowing leaves, rubbish and waste collection, and cleaning external areas

  • Assist with painting, touch-up work, and basic refurbishment projects as required

  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of maintenance storage areas, workshops, and equipment sheds

  • Ensure pathways, outdoor areas, and workspaces remain safe, clean, and free from hazards

    Workshop and Equipment Support

  • Assist with organising, maintaining, and restocking maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment

  • Report damaged, unsafe, or missing tools and equipment promptly to the maintenance co-ordinator

    Systems and Safety

  • Accurately maintain and keep up to date relevant maintenance records, checklists, and re-porting documentation as required• Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures and safe manual handling practices at all times

  • Ensure any maintenance issues, hazards, incidents, or irregularities are reported to relevant stakeholders as soon as possible• Provide feedback on maintenance and operational improvement measures that support excellent guest experiences and efficient site operations

  • Ensure all relevant reporting occurs promptly, is actioned as needed, and filed accordingly

What we would really like you to have

  • Personal Christian faith

  • Proven maintenance and/or construction experience

  • WorkSafe NSW Licenses

  • Qualifications relating to the construction industry

  • Proven knowledge of Industry and Safety Standards

  • First aid qualifications

Additional information

Current drivers license and own transport is essential as there is no public transport anywhere near Port Hacking Conference Centres.
