What is Year 13?
Be Impacted by the Word ...
Read the whole Bible: Ask the tough questions and be ready to engage in thought-provoking discussion during your Bible-in-a-year classes.
Study the Word: Complete four subjects towards a Diploma of Theology (awarded through the Australian College of Theology): Biblical Theology of Mission, Apologetics, Cross-cultural Mission and Theology for Everyday Life. Other subjects covered include: world religions, ethics, church history, pastoral ministry and evangelism.
Develop life and ministry skills: Learn to save a life, improve your road safety and manage your money by completing the Senior First Aid Certificate, a Defensive Driving Skills course and a financial planning day with AMP. Be trained by a team of specialist in youth, children’s and school’s ministry.
Reflect and grow: Develop life-long learning skills through personal journaling and small chaplaincy peer groups. Encourage and be encouraged. Allow God to open your eyes to know Him better!
Join the Year 13 community: Two days and nights on campus each week (continuous mode), 9 weeks residential (intensive mode). Develop lasting friendships with Christian peers whilst you think, learn, pray and grow together.
Explore your future: Benefit from the experience of special guests working in diverse spheres of life at weekly "fireside" chats. Develop skills to help you in the workforce through career training, and consider the options for future theological study and ministry as you attend MTS Challenge Conference.
... and Impact the World!
Complete a year-long ministry placement at your church (or school): Serve in Christian ministry two days a week for the whole year, experiencing the joys and challenges that it brings. You placement will be supervised by a minister, chaplain or teacher and will be the backbone of your year. (Other volunteer work may also be suggested.)
Serve for a month in Fiji: Partner with local Christians and churches to minister the gospel in many contexts, including orphanages, villages, schools and universities. Experience life first-hand the homes of Fijian families, participate in hands-on community projects and work with the team to present two Fijian Youth Leadership Conferences.
Assist in Camping Ministries: Experience unique opportunities alongside trained staff as you share your faith and life with school campers on the week-long Horizon Outdoor Education Program, and serve on WROK (Wheelchairs Rule OK?) or HSC Study camps.
Participate in special ministries: Apply your theological and ministry training in real-life situations. See firsthand the challenges and difficulties facing those who live on the streets of Sydney during our ‘Welfare Awareness Day’. Take the opportunity to serve behind the scenes at the TWIST Music Conference or the Katoomba KYCK Conference.
"Use this year to make an investment in eternity!"
