Safe Ministry
The last couple of years have really exposed a weakness in the area of Child Protection in almost every institution that deals with children. It is a sad reality that young people are being sexually abused while in the care of adults and churches. It is essential that everyone involved in ministry to children and young people receive thorough training. 'Safe Ministry' is the means by which Youthworks assists churches with training.
Safe Ministry Requirements
Everyone working with children and young people in an Anglican church need to complete Safe Ministry Essentials (Part A&B).
Every 3 years everyone working with children and young people in an Anglican church need to complete the Safe Ministry Refresher.
Junior leaders under the age of 16 working with children and young people in an Anglican church should never be left unsupervised. We recommend all Junior leaders complete Safe Ministry Junior.
Safe Church Training Agreement
The Anglican Diocese of Sydney is part of the Safe Church Training Agreement which is an agreed standard for safe ministry training. As part of the agreement we recognise, and are recognised, by a number of different denominations and diocese.
